Journaldrill

Level 2: Adjusting entries Exercise 12 of 54 Pro

Supplies used

A journal entry exercise from Journaldrill. Solve it with an account picker and debit and credit fields in your browser, and it is checked the moment you submit.

The task

Bluebird Graphic Design started the month with a $640 balance in Supplies and bought $1,150 of supplies during the month, debiting Supplies. A count at month end shows $410 of supplies still on hand. Record the adjusting entry.

What this exercise teaches

Supplies available were $1,790 ($640 + $1,150), and only $410 remain, so $1,380 was used. That amount is moved from the Supplies asset to Supplies Expense, leaving the Supplies balance equal to the $410 counted.

A hint if you get stuck

Add the beginning balance and purchases, then compare with the count to see how much was used up.
